Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade
Item upgrade, also referred to as "upping," improves an item's stats. Each upgrade increment provides an increase in linearity of any stat.
Players can recycle six items at a time to get a gauge of the upgraded component of each item. The cost of recycling an item scales with its rarity and level.
Upgrade components
An upgrade for an item in Guild Wars 2 is a procedure that can improve the effectiveness of your weapons and armor. This can be accomplished in a variety of ways, including by using upgrade components or by increasing an item's rarity or mark level. A lot of items can be reforged to increase their stats.

Almost all weapons can be upgraded using an upgrade to a prefix for example, an insignia, or a rune, and many can be upgraded with a suffix upgrade. These upgrades include an adjective in the item's name, such as "Radiant" or "Minor Vigor".
Glyphs
Glyphs can be a powerful instrument for communicating visual information. They animate in order to grab the viewer's eye and entice curiosity. The animation of glyphs mimics the body language and makes them more effective in transmitting a linguistic barrier-crossing message. Glyphs can also trigger a feeling of familiarity in the brain, increasing retention of the message.
Each glyph increases a stat's value by a certain amount. This is clearly displayed on the item's page when you open it in the Glyph Storage. This is not the actual amount by which the glyph will increase the stat, but rather the maximum value by which it is able to do so. The value of the glyph is contingent on the tier and quality of the product you are enchanting.
Most upgrade components inserted into items can't be replaced or salvaged without dismantling the gear in question, unless it is legendary equipment and upgrades. However, if upgrade item have a non-useful rune or glyph that hasn't yet been applied to your gear, you can move it to a different piece of gear by using the Upgrade Glyphs context menu within the Glyphs panel. This will create an Glyph Set that includes the selected glyph.
You can take out a glyph by using the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or an Ascended Salvage tool. This will destroy the item that it was installed in, but you can recover the upgraded item using the glyph and its fragments, therefore it should not be considered a loss.
A glyph added to an item can cause it to be unstable, and the shards of the glyph will disappear from your inventory when you dismantle the item. Reroll tokens are also a great option to reroll stats on weapons that can be upgraded for better damage or other perks.
Items that have been rerolled may not appear in the upgrade menu, however they can still receive upgrades. These rerolled items are able to be recycled by pressing the "upgrade" button which alters the layout of the item window and allows up to six items to be chosen to recycle. The level gauge is increased by recycling an item. The amount is determined by the rarity of the item and its level. Therefore, items that are higher level are more valuable for recycling than items with lower levels.
